About

I started my editing journey by spotting typos on signs and menus, like playing “I Spy” with the world. From there I started copyediting for school publications and then for work documents. I’ve since gotten an editing certificate from the University of Chicago to solidify that eye for detail. This training helps me navigate and apply The Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition) rules for grammar, punctuation, and capitalization consistently each time I edit.

I have a decade of experience in copyediting and proofreading a range of materials in fiction, business, and education-focused writing. Each time I accurately learn and apply the project-specific style guide. These projects span from one-sentence article summaries to four-hundred-page legal documents, but somewhere in between is just as satisfying when it comes to arranging words in the right order, dotting digital i’s, and crossing virtual t’s.

Across projects, I encourage writers to produce clear, accurate, and eloquent writing. One of my ongoing projects is my involvement as a copyeditor at Science Connected. This science magazine aligns with the curiosity and quest for knowledge that drives me as a reader and editor. I have pulled on these drives as a detail-oriented writer and editor in educational publishing for grades K–12, and while proofreading and fact-checking for fiction projects. When I’m not editing or reading from my ever-growing to-read list, I enjoy spending time outside on walks in almost any weather or working on my latest crafting project.
